Inspect the existing water installation before closing walls
Older properties may contain mixed pipe materials, ageing connections, poorly documented routes or repairs from different periods. A small concealed leak can remain unnoticed until it causes damp patches, damaged finishes or an unusually high water bill.
Before replastering or installing new floors, identify the pipe routes, check visible connections and test the system where appropriate. Renovating finishes without first understanding the installation can hide a problem that becomes expensive to reach later.
